TRACT BY ADAM MOORE ON THE ENCLOSURE OF SEDGEMOOR: 'An Apologie for his Ma:ties Royall intention of the enclosure of Kinges Sedgmoore in the County of Somersett: by Adam Moore his highnes agent and servant therein' (title f. 2), with a signed dedication to Sir Henry Yelverton, Attorney-General, ff. 1-1b, who had been given 'the charge . . . of the managing thereof'. ' [temp. James I], in which parts of the present treatise are reproduced almost verbatim, eg. 48111, f. 8b and Royal 17 A.XXXVII, f. 4b. Both treatises, which are apparently unpublished, were drawn upon by Moore for his tract: Bread for the Poor. And Advancement of the English Nation. Promised by Enclosure of the Waste and Common Grounds of England (1653); see ibid., pp. 21-27 and 48111, ff. 14-16. On the enclosure dispute see T. G. Barnes, Somerset 1625-1640. A County's Government during the "Personal Rule", 1961, pp. 150-155 and 335, where the present MS. is noticed briefly, and M. Williams, The Draining of the Somerset Levels, 1970, especially pp. 95-102.
