MISCELLANEOUS MEDIEVAL AND LATER HISTORICAL MATERIALS, GENEALOGIES, ACCOUNTS OF VOYAGES; late 16th cent. Most items, except art. 2, are annotated or endorsed by Beale. 17th-cent. contents list, f. 4.
1. ff. 15-57. Extracts from medieval chronicles, etc., namely the Annales Cambriae, Hoveden, Thorne, the Bury chronicle attributed to John Eversden, the Bermondsey annals and Domesday Book. Titles mostly by Beale. Also included, ff. 39-43, is an Anglo-Saxon glossary compiled from the laws of the Anglo-Saxon kings, etc.; at f. 42b Beale gives a note of his source, dated 1587, 'an old book of St Augustines of Canterbury, which I borowed of Mr Recorder'.
2. ff. 63-128. Genealogies of the English nobility to about 1587. With 17th-cent. additions and corrections, a number dated 1658 (eg. ff. 69, 72).
3. ff. 157-158b. 'A discourse of a voiage intended by Rychard Grenefeld by seas anno 1573' (title by Beale, f. 157b); see A. L. Rowse, Sir Richard Grenville, 1937, pp. 83 sqq.

Paper; ff. ii + 220. 17th-cent. foliation. Folio. Late XVI cent. Inscription, f. 1, 'October ye 18th 1658. This is Sir Henry Yelverton's booke', i.e. Sir Henry Yelverton, 2nd Bart. Bound (upside down) in conjoint leaves of a 14th-cent. English noted missal with red and blue initials containing parts of the temporale for Septuagesima and Sexagesima (front cover, f. i) and the Circumcision and Vigil of the Epiphany (f. ii, back cover). Leather ties. Numbered '162' on spine. Traces of label on front cover.
