2. ff. 148-195. 'A Iournall of all the Negotiations in the Treatie of Peace between the King of England and the King of Spaine and Archdukes and their subjects, Ano. 4to Jacobi. 1604. Given unto me by Mr Secretary Vane ano 1648'. A version of the journal belonging to Lord Hardwicke, now Add. 35847, ff. 1-97, is printed in W. Thomson's later editions of R. Watson's History of the Reign of Philip the Third, 1786-1839 (1808 edn., ii, pp. 499-618). On the peace of 1604 see also G. Davis and M. F. Keeler, Bibliography of British History, 1970, no. 664.
3. ff. 196-238. 'A Treatise of State Marchant and of Marchandizing state consisting of Commerce Trade & traffique and upheld by the Kings Royal Exchangers Office'; temp. Charles I (f. 200b). Beg. 'A second Present to the Kings most excellent Matie which in duty to your Matie W. S. gent. doth most humbly present signifieing hereby, that in my former Treatise of Exchanging presented to your Matie . . . '. The author, William Sanderson, the Merchant Adventurer, was commanded with others by James I to report on the Exchange in 1622, but the 'Treatise of Exchanging' was apparently not presented until temp. Charles I, see the memoir of Sanderson 'by a Freind' following the copy in Harley MS. 5208, ff. 1-30. Other copies however, Lansdowne MS. 768 and Stowe MS. 151, ff. 148-185 are dated 1607 and are addressed to both King and Prince.

ff. 195-239. Folio. Mid XVII. cent. Each article in a different 17th-cent. hand. Vellum binding with remains of green silk ties. Numbered '172' twice on spine, once on the remains of a label.
