1. ff. 7-20. Joint custumal of the Cinque Ports (lacking the end). For the description see Add. 48028, art. 8, a complete copy. Artt. 1 and 3 of the present MS. may be part of the volume referred to by Beale in Add. 48028, f. 141.
2. ff. 23-66b. Customs, etc., of the City of London; early 17th cent. French. (a) Customs of the City of London, derived from the custumal called 'Darcy'. Mostly compiled not later than 1350, on which see W. Kellaway, 'John Carpenter's Liber Albus', Guildhall Studies in London History, iii, 1978, pp. 72-73. Other copies, with minor variants, are in Add. 24549, ff. 24-33b, and Hargrave MS. 419, ff 28-37b; these are incomplete and break off at 'justice de surceases', f. 40, line 15, of the present MS. ff. 23-43b; (b) Legal processes in the City of London, printed from the 'Liber Albus' in Munimenta Gildhallae Londoniensis, ed. H. T. Riley, RS, i, 1859, pp. 184-223 passim. ff. 43-66b.

Artt. 1 and 3 are written in a formal law hand within red-ruled borders, with some decorative penwork in titles and headings. Vellum binding. Numbered '173' twice on spine, once very faded with traces of label.
