MAINWARING, 'NOMENCLATOR NAVALIS'; 17th cent. Entitled 'A Breife Abstract Exposition, and true Demonstration of all partes and thinges belonging to A Shipp & the practice of Navigation'. A version of the treatise 'Nomenclator Navalis' composed by Sir Henry Mainwaring in 1620-1623 and published as The Sea-Mans Dictionary, 1644, see the description above of another copy, Add. 48157. The present MS. is the later, expanded version, resembling Harley MS. 2301 and Add. 21571.
Paper; ff. ii + 80. 17th-cent. pagination, 1-160. Folio. XVII cent. Contemporary vellum binding with green silk ties, marked 'H' and numbered '177' on the spine.
