2. ff. 46-71. Journal of Sanderson on board H.M.S. 'Salisbury', under the captaincy of Francis Hosier; 8 May-31 Oct. 1709. Preceded by an illustrated navigational chart, f. 43. Title pages, ff. 46, 47. During this period, the 'Salisbury' made three voyages, to Milford Haven and Ushant, to Lisbon, and into the Atlantic past Youghal, at which point the journal ends. Illustrated with pen-and-wash drawings of ships and coastal defences, flags, etc., in colour, as follows: title page, f. 46; illustrations of signals, ff. 48-51.
Paper; ff. 71. Folio. 1709. Sanderson's son, Sir William, 2nd Bart., married Charlotte, sister of Sir Henry Gough, ancestor of the Barons Calthorpe. On the death of their son (1754) the baronetcy became extinct and either then, or on the death of Lady Sanderson (1780), the MS. probably passed to the Gough family.
