Diary entries, mostly handwritten, giving a personal account of Hunter-Weston’s daily life in the army. Includes contents page. Glued into the diary are many photographs, postcards, newspaper cuttings, orders, correspondence, sketches, poems and other mementos. Photographs show Malta, Alexandria, Moudros, Gallipoli landing beaches, Cape Helles and Sedd el Bahr as well as ships, officers, camps, soldiers, prisoners and trenches. Also includes translation of Turkish army orders, ‘Peninsula Press’ news of the sinking of the Lusitania, German propaganda and the text of ‘Gallipoli’, broadcast on the BBC National Programme, 23 Apr 1939.
