OXENDEN MANUSCRIPTS. Vol. I. Commonplace book; circa 1630-1668. Partly Latin and Greek. Includes genealogical and heraldic material, particularly relating to the Oxenden family and connections, copies of family wills, etc., memoranda of family, household and local events, poetry and notes on scripture. The manuscript was owned by the Oxenden family until it was presented to the British Museum. Notes by members of the family occur as follows: George Christopher Oxenden, March 1864 (f. 170 rev.); Percy Dixwell Nowell Dixwell-Oxenden, 10th Bart., Oct. 1900

ff. 207 + 131*-131** + 139* + 151*-151**. Contemporary pagi-nation 1-163 through ff. 74v-151**. 186 x 135mm. 17th cent. brown leather binding, gilt-stamped on both covers. Brown morocco slip cover. The volume was repaired in Oct. 1900 (f. 52).
