TRUMBULL PAPERS. Vol. CXCII. G. R. Weckherlin: Diary of official and personal business; 16 Dec. 1633-17 May 1642, n.d. Autograph. Partly French and German. This is a detailed record of official letters, etc., drafted, and other secretarial duties undertaken, on behalf of Charles I. It also includes memoranda of Weckherlin's family and personal correspondence, along with other matters. The diary is composed of gatherings that were originally separate but were later bound together in a loosely sequential arrangement. The correct chronological order, which differs from the present arrangement, should run as follows: (1) List of letters, 16 Dec. 1633-13 May 1636. ff. 1-2v; (2) 12 July-18 Aug. [1636]. ff. 7-9; (3) 22 Sept.-31 Dec. 1636. ff. 40-47v; (4) 1 Jan. 1637-2 Mar. 1637. ff. 3-6v; (5) 4 Mar.-13 Sept. 1637. ff. 26-39v; (6) 16 Sept. 1637-31 Mar. 1638. ff. 10-25v; (7) 1 Apr. 1638-18 Mar. 1639. ff. 48-63v; (8) 31 Mar.-13 Nov. 1639. ff. 64-75v; and (9) 18 Nov. 1639-10 July 1640, 19 Aug. [1640]-10 Aug. 1641, and 31 Dec. 1641-17 May 1642. ff. 76-89v. Inserted is a stray bifolium (ff. 86, 86v) comprising a list of letters, 15 Aug.-17 Oct. [1641]. For a later journal and letter-book of Weckherlin relating to diplomatic affairs under the Parliament, 1643-1646, see below Add. 72437.
