Items 5-7 were presumably acquired by Burns from Alfred Moore in Nov. 1909, along with other letters to Richard Moore, woodcarver and Chartist (b.1810, d.1879), now in Add. MS 46345; 1839-1964, n.d. 1. ff. 1-47. Inventory of Burns's furniture and effects, by Johnston Evans & Co.; Feb. 1943. Typewritten.
2. ff. 48-80. i) Marked up copy of Hampton & Sons' catalogue, relating to the sale of Burns's Clapham Common home and its contents; the catalogue includes some books, prints and drawings; marked up in ink. ii) Another copy of the above, marked up in pencil, with additional rough notes; probably marked up during the sale; one set of notes on back of a fragment of accounts in Burns's hand, 24 Aug. 1938; 8-9 Dec. 1943. Printed.
3. ff. 81-102. List of Burns's books, including works of or on Erasmus and Shakespeare; the latest work listed seems to be one of 1940; a few MSS are included on the list; [1943?]. Typewritten carbon copy.
4. ff. 103-150. Printed catalogues of the Sotheby's sales of Burns's books; 7-8 Dec. 1943 [Books on London], 14 March 1944 [Books and MSS relating to Sir Thomas More]; with a note from Sotheby and Co., concerning reserve bids for the John Burns Sale of 24-26 April 1944 [Miscellaneous books].
