Althorp Papers. Vol. xcv. 'Memoirs concerning the Affairs of Scotland ...', by George Lockhart of Carnwath, Vol. II; temp. Anne. [between 1702-1714] Early 18th cent. copy in a clerical hand. Includes the appendix not in the first unauthorised version, published by Sir David Dalrymple in 1714, but in subsequent editions, and in The Lockhart Papers, ed. Anthony Aufrere (1817), Vol.I. Listed in the inventories of books of 1727 and 1746 in D15 below, from which it is clear that Vols I and II became separated at an early stage.
Bound in vellum, gilt-stamped, with the royal arms partly obliterated, and a modern casing of dark green leather, stamped with the Spencer arms. 320 x 210 mm.
