Contemporary vellum binding, with a modern casing of dark green leather, stamped with the Spencer arms. 310 x 211 mm.

Contents:

1. `An Account of the Undeserv'd ill Treatment of Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne of Denmark by King William and Queen Mary, Her Sister, wrote in a Letter to Mrs Burnet, the Bishop of Salisbury's wife ...': a narrative by the Duchess concerning the quarrel between William II, Mary II and Princess (afterwards Queen) Anne. The original, written in Nov. 1704, is now Add. MS 61421, ff.1-70. The present version is a copy of a version of temp. Anne (now Add. MS. 61421, ff.71-136), which was slightly altered from the original; it contains further alterations which have been incorporated into another version of the 1730s (now Add. MS 61421, ff.137-162).

2. Narrative concerning the conduct of the Duchess as Mistress of the Robes and Keeper of the Privy Purse to Queen Anne, compiled for her from her own notes by Arthur Maynwaring, M.P. in 1712, with a later preliminary note by the Duchess. The original is now Add. MS. 61424, ff.88-100.
