Lamb Papers (Series II). Vol. cii. George Lamb’s notes relating to the theatre and his translation of Catullus; early 19^th cent. Papers concerning Lamb’s translation of Catullus include a detailed commentary from C. [Charles?] Kelsall; a newspaper cutting of a review by John Taylor, The Sun Office, Strand, 15 Feb. 1822; Lamb’s notes on, and extracts from, Catullus. Papers concerning the theatre contain notes on audiences and actors including John Henderson, Thomas Betterton, Colley Cibber, an extract from a Drury Lane play bill in the hand of George Lamb: ‘Edward the Blind Boy’, 1821. Other papers in the volume include prayers, one endorsed, ‘Sir Charles Sedley’s’; a passage in a 17^th-century hand endorsed, in a nineteenth, ‘school exercise’; extracts from the psalms listed under the headings ‘for mercy’, ‘for the Church’ and ‘for thanksgiving’; an extract from Justinus’ Liber XXVI cap.3; slips of paper referring to the location of Lamb and Coke family records.
