The bishop Flavius Theodorus writes to Flavius Melas, administrator of Apollonopolis, concerning a donation he wants to make to Senouthes, bishop of Apollonopolis, which the recipient is asked to deliver. The donation includes 50 artabas of wheat and 100 jars of wine. A donation on behalf of Theodorus’ deceased father continues to be made too. Written by the notary Ioannes, with signature of Theodorus and endorsement on the back.

- Papyrus sheet, complete, with little damage along the folding lines. Writing runs along the fibres on both sides, the back having a one-line docket. All margins extant, the side margins being irregular and minimal. The papyrus is housed in a glass case.

Script: Fluent sloping cursive hand of big size; from l. 18 to end of the front, second sloping hand, thicker, mostly detached. Verso: Upright cursive hand.

Provenance: Egypt. Purchased from Maggs on 11 February 1939 using the Farnborough fund (£3,000 bequeathed in 1838 by Charles Long, 1st Baron Farnborough (b. 1760, d. 1838)).
