HEATH AND VERNEY PAPERS. Vol. XXX (ff. 131). Surveys, rentals and papers rel. to the manors of Broadway and Pointington, co. Som., belonging to Sir Robert Heath and the Barons Willoughby de Broke, 14th cent., 1512-1812. At the end (f. 131) is a letter on vellum from Phelip Parsefey, addressed apparently to the son of a recently deceased Lord of the Manor of Pointington, asking for the repayment of debts owing by the father at the time of his death. Fr. The letter refers to the steward William de Cherletone, whose name occurs in several Pointington deeds between 1322 and 1350 (Egerton Ch. 1585-1591) ; the addressee would seem, therefore, to be either Sir William de Cheyney, d. 1345, or more probably his son Edmund (Cal. Inq. post mortem, viii, pp. 423-425). A somewhat inaccurate description of the letter is given by Rev. J. H. Bloom, Cartae Antiquae of Lord Willoughby de Broke, pt. iii, no. 19. Paper (except ff. 111, 131).
