LEEDS PAPERS. Vol. XLII (ff. 74). 'Observacions, Rules and Orders collected out of divers Journalls of the House of Commons. . .', including at the end (ff. 60-74) a copy of the Form of Apology and Satisfaction to James I, 20 June 1604 (printed in Cobbett's Parliamentary History of England and elsewhere): a work on parliamentary procedure, with precedents up to the year 1606, being the earliest of three versions of the text. Other copies of the version are in Harley MS. 6283, Lansdowne MS. 480 and Stowe MS. 344 (imperfect) and it is printed as the second part (pp. 101-240) of The original Institution, Power and Jurisdiction of Parliaments, attributed to Sir Matthew Hale, 1707. Another version, containing precedents to 1679, a copy of which is in Add. MS. 51443, was printed anonymously (1717) with the same title as the manuscript texts. A third version, with precedents to circ. 1685, is in Add. MS. 8828. Contemporary binding of mottled calf, gilt-tooled.
