'A Brefe Summarie and Demonstracion of the estat of England and Wales': lists of the establishment, including records of fees, precedence and some names of office-holders, chiefly relating to the Church (ff. 4, 6-9), peerage (ff. 13b-15), musters, 1574, 1575 (ff. 16-17), Navy (ff. 17b, 18), fortresses, etc. (ff. 18b-20), revenue (ff. 26b-34b), officers of State and the Royal Household (ff. 36-50); circ. 1584-1585. A similar text appears in a number of other manuscripts, e.g. Lansdowne MS. 171, ff. 238b-245b. A version with the same title is in the Library of the Inner Temple (MS. 538.34; see Hist. MSS. Comm., 11th Report, App. vii, pp. 249-250). Cf. also Eg. MS. 3371. Similar lists were printed in F. Peck, Desiderata Curiosa, 1779, i, pp. 51-78, and Archaeologia, xv, 1806, pp. 53-58, 72-91.
