LEEDS PAPERS. Vol. LVII (ff. i+72). A prose play on the siege of Londonderry, 1689, by John Michelburne (d. 1721), one of the Governors of the city: the second part of a work first published, in two parts, in 1705 as Ireland Preserv'd; or the Siege of Londonderry. The text, which is not divided into acts or scenes, corresponds with that of Stowe MS. 977, but differs considerably from the printed editions, most of which consist of the second part only. Preceded by an historical introduction (ff. 2, 3) and (f. 1) by a copy, in a different hand, of William III's letter to the Governors of Londonderry, 16 Aug. 1689, which is printed in the first edition of the play, part i, pp. vi-vii (for another copy see Eg. MS. 3348, f. 45).
