Eccles Bequest. Vol. CLXIV. Papers relating to forged Oscar Wilde manuscripts and the dispute surrounding Wilde's suggested authorship of 'For Love of the King'; 1891-1957. Mostly printed. Includes correspondence of William F. Figgis, Senior Director of Hodges, Figgis & Co, and Christopher Millard relating to the sale of manuscripts of Wilde whose authenticity was challenged. Christopher Millard initially believed them to be genuine but then changed his mind. With a typewritten statement by William Figgis concerning the affair. Also contains two typescript copies of letters sent by Oscar Wilde to George Alexander who is addressed in the letters as 'Aleck'.
