A collotype facsimile of Fairfax's inscriptions on Add. 59495, f. 1, faces the prefatory page of bibliographical remarks that are signed 'G'. Label bearing red cross of St. George pasted inside front cover. Old pressmarks in pencil 'D A2' on verso of front flyleaf and DR 11 a 2 17 8' on titlepage.
Paper; unfoliated. Unpaginated, but comprising 6 leaves of preliminaries, 109 of text and 1 the colophon. Binding of olive-green morocco with, on both covers, a triple-ruled compartment incorporating extended filigree ornaments in the corners. Spine gilt-tooled between the five raised bands and lettered 'BALADES AND OTHER POEMS BY JOHN GOWER' and dated below '1818'. Doublures gilt-tooled, and signed inside the front cover 'BAGGULEY NEWCASTLE-UNDER-LYME'. Endpapers decorated with small comb.
