Memorandum by William Wellesley-Pole, 3rd Earl of Mornington, as Chief Secretary for Ireland, on Irish opinion regarding Catholic claims, forwarded with a letter (f. 6) to Ryder; 1 Dec. 1811. Signed. Preceded by covering letters, Apr. 1813, from Sir Robert Peel, 2nd Bart. (f. 1), and Charles Lennox, 4th Duke of Richmond and Lennox (f. 3), and including their marginal comments. Most of the papers are printed by Walpole, op. cit., ii, pp. 247-56.
2. ff. 32-78. Letter of Sir John Coxe Hippisley, 1st Bart., to Robert Stewart, Viscount Castlereagh, relating to Hippisley's motion for a committee to examine the laws affecting Roman Catholics; 20 Feb. 1814. Copy. Also distributed (see f. 32b) among Cabinet Ministers and others. Followed (ff. 76-78) by a copy of an earlier letter, 30 June 1813. Ff. 36-49 comprise an annotated printed report of Hippisley's speech on the motion, 11 May 1813.
