WILLIAM MORRIS LITERARY MANUSCRIPTS. Vol. VI (ff. ii + 11). The Ring given to Venus (C.W., vi, pp. 136-173). A draft, described by Morris on the original wrapper (f. ii) as 'First copy of ring given', from 'Howe'er it might be, this I know' (C.W., vi, p. 137) to the end. This draft is shorter and less ornate than the printed version; it omits the long description of the wedding, breaking off (f. 1b) at 'Now wedded there a lovely maid' and resuming (f. 2) at 'What need to tell the joyances' (C.W., vi, pp. 139-141). See Morris, i, pp. 423-425, where a few sections are quoted. ff. 1-11. There is a note on f. i 'This manuscript given by William Morris to Philip Webb was bequeathed by him to Emery Walker. P. Webb died Saturday April 17. 1915. E. W.'. Red morocco binding by Katharine Adams.
Katharine Webb, d 1952 née Adams; bookbinder: Bound: bef. 1952.
