This manuscript includes four parts made at different times:
ff. 1r-39v: a fragment of the third volume of the Canterbury Passionale, containing Osbern's Vita Sancti Dunstani and Eadmer's Vita Sancti Anselmi originally bound with Cotton Nero MS C VII, ff. 29r-79r, and Harley MS 624, ff. 84r-143v; 1st half of the 12th century.
ff. 40r-45v: a text on the Eucharist refuting John Wycliffe; 1st half of the 15th century.
ff. 46r-47v: a bifolium with verses and a fragment from the cartulary of the Benedictine priory of St Swithun's, Winchester; 1st quarter of the 14th century.
ff. 48r-49v: a fragment from the accounts of the jewellery contained in Edward II's royal wardrobe, citing in particular the treasurer,Walter Reynolds (d. 1327), John of Drokenesford (Droxford) (d. 1329), keeper of the wardrobe (between 1295-1307) and Ingelard Warley, keeper of the wardrobe (between 1309-1311 and 1312-1314); 1309.

Provenance:
Nicholas of Tarente (d. 1309), prior of the Benedictine cathedral priory of Sts Peter, Paul, and Swithun, Winchester from 1305 to 1309, his ownership inscription, 'Ns Tarante prior', and note recording his gift of a now missing manuscript to the priory: 'liber ecclesie Sancti Swithuni Wynton ex dono fratris Nicholai de tarente' (f. 46r).

Provenance:
Sir Simonds d'Ewes (b.1602, d. 1650), 1st baronet, diarist, antiquary, and friend of Sir Robert Cotton: inserted catchwords at the end of each folios (ff. 1, 2, 3 passim) (see Watson, The library of Sir Simonds d'Ewes (1966), no. E72).
Sir Simonds D’Ewes (d. 1722), 3rd baronet and grandson of the former: inherited and later sold the D’Ewes library to Robert Harley on 4 October 1705 for £450.
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d.1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
