- Title:
- A fragment from the accounts of the royal wardrobe (Edward II)
- Scope & Content:
-
Contents:
ff. 48r-49v: A fragment from the accounts of the jewellery contained in Edward II's royal wardrobe, citing in particular those of the treasurer,Walter Reynolds (keeper of the wardrobe from 1301-1307; treasurer from 1307-1310, d. 1327), John of Drokenesford (Droxford) (d. 1329), keeper of the wardrobe (between 1295-1301 and between 1301-1309) and Ingelard Warley, keeper of the wardrobe (between 1309-1311 and 1312-1314).
These accounts are datable to 1309 because Walter Reynolds is quoted as a treasurer (see his dates above) and the first sentence specifies that John Droxford transferred his charge to Ingelard Warley at the end of the second year of Edward II's reign, that is 1309: 'Adhuc jocalia de veteri stauro garderobe remanencia in fine anni tercii de jocalibus remanentibus et liberatis per Dominum Johannem de Drokenesforde, Domino Ingelardo de Warle, in fine anni secundi ejusdem regis' (f. 48r).
