2. Royal order to Agustin de Arredondo, Governor of Trinidad, instruction him to punish the Carib murdered of thee French Bishop Nicolas Herbasio [Gervaise], who had settled on the R. Aguire; Seville, 24 Jan. 1731. f. 26. With a minute (f. 28 b) rerespecting the action taken and the death of the Carib chief Iaguaria; Trinidad, 27 Apr. 1733.

Agustin de Arredondo, Governor of Trinidad, to the king, reporting his fifth visit to Guayana, his summoning the Carib cheifs to an assembly, in which they cleared themselves of the murder of the French bishop and accused the cheif Iaguaria, whom they promise to surrender, his rewarding them with presents and investing them with insignia as vassal chiefs of Spain, ete. ; Trinidad, 5 June, 1731. With minutes, etc., 12 July, 1732. f. 30.
