Holograph draft (endorsement, f. 22 b). f. 3. Preceded (f. 2) by a note in pencil by Hubert [G.R.] Reade, 21 Oct. 1886, as to the sources of his paper on the same subject, read 12 May, 1886.
3. "The Revocation of the Edict of Nanters, illustrated from State Papers in the Archives of Venice," read 9 Mar. 1887 (Proc., ii, pp. xxi, xxiv, 117-153 ; also privately printed, 1888). Layard adds a note : "The MS. extracts from the State Papers now in the Archives at Venice and Florence, which have been consulted in the preparation of the foregoing Paper, have been bound together and presented by me to the Library of the Society" (ib., p. 153) Holograph draft. f. 43.

"The Duc de Rohan's Relations with the Republic of Venice, 1630-1637," read 11 Jan. 1893 (Proc., iv, pp. xxviii, 218-228, together with notes and summaries of letters, most of which are incorporated in the appendix (ib., pp. 228-274). Layard offered the copies of letters to the Society (ib., p. 218), but they are not in the Society's Library and the copies referred to are probably those contained in this volume. The following passages in the printed work are missing in the MS.: p. 16, 1. 11-p. 17, 1. 2 (part of despatch of 1 Mar. 1561), p. 42, 1. 10-the end (8 Sept.-10 Nov. 1561), the first gap occuring between ff. 154, 155.
