Scrap-book of John Hyde, consisting chiefly of extracts and newspaper cuttings, some descriptive of places visited in India and elsewhere, others of a miscellaneous character. Inserted (ff. 69-74) are leaves of the Persepolis tour (see 42I04 above) and (f. 76) a sketch-map showing Hyde's travels in Palestine. At the end are original certificates authenticating Hyde's visits to Mt Sinai, in Greek, 9 Sept. 1819 (f. 80), to the holy places in Palestine, in Latin [1820], signed and sealed en placard by Fr Franciscus Maria Cozza a Lutiis, Praeses Terrae Sanctae (f. 81b), and to Hebron, in Hebrew (f. 82); also an engraved certificate, in Arabic (f. 78), issued to Moslem pilgrims to the Mosque of Omar.
