- Scotch Songs, with symphonies and accompaniments for flute, violin, violoncello, and pianoforte, in score, by J. N. Hummel. Most of them are published in George Thomson's Collection of Scottish Airs, from which most of the dates given below are taken. I. '12 Scotch Songs ' [1830], mostly published. 1. 'The happy Miller,' begins 'When the stream is flowing.' f. 2b. 2. 'Admiration,' begins 'True-hearted was he.' f. 4b. 3. 'The Lover expecting his Mistress,' begins 'Here is the glin.' f. 8. 4. 'The Lover addressing his Mistress,' begins 'I know not why.' f. 11. 5. 'Constancy and Ardour,' begins 'O were I on Parnassus' hill.' f. 14b. 6. 'Despondency,' begins 'Again rejoicing'; with autograph corrections, ff. 17b, 40. 7. 'The Lover deploring his Fate,' begins 'Poor flutt'ring heart.' f. 21. 8. 'Highland Pibroch,' begins 'Pibroch of Donald Dhu'; with audograph corrections, ff. 24, 41. 9. 'The maid deserted,' begins 'The blossom that silver'd the tree'; with autograph corrections, ff. 27, 42b. 10. 'Loyalty of the Highlanders,' begins 'Came you by Akole' (sic), f. 30b. 11. 'Evening,' begins 'The sun upon the Weirdlaw hill'; with autograph corrections, ff. 33b, 43b. 12. 'The Peasant courting,' begins 'Will ye go, Lassie.' f. 36b. II. 'Five Scottish Songs' [1826]; published. 13. 'Why weep you by the tide, lady.' f. 45b. 14. 'My heart is sore.' f. 47. 15. 'I saw thee weep.' The melody by 'G. T[homson].' f. 49. 16. 'A Chieftain to the Highlands bound.' f. 51. 17. 'At ev'n, when on each heatherbell.' f. 53. III. 'Three Scotsh Songs'; sent by the composer in April, 1832, but probably composed in the preceding year. Autograph. 18. 'The smiling spring.' f. 55. 19. 'I see the flowers.' f. 55. 20.
