An account of the Royal Society and Royal Society Club, with biographical notices of the Presidents of the Society, and of some of its most distinguished Fellows, during Sir John Barrow's association with it, from 1806 to 1848. The chapter was published in 1849 as Sketches of the Royal Society and Royal Society Club (London: John Murray).

Subsequently (‘printed not’ inserted in pencil) published by his sons’. In Add MS 35301, f. 2, Col. Barrow speaks of this as ‘the Supplementary Chapter, which was barely completed when my Father breathed his last, and which was printed (but not published) subsequently to his death.’
Includes a portrait of Sir J. Barrow, engraved after Lucas (f. 2v), a letter from Anna Frederica Brande to Sir J. Barrow, 1848 (ff. 166-167v), and at the end (f.f 170-171) a biographical notice by [Sir George Thomas] S[taunton, 2nd Baronet], reprinted from the Times of 1 Dec. 1848.
