Fees received in the offices of the Secretaries of State, 15 May 1699-1 May 1702, Vernon being Secretary of State for the whole period and the second office being held successively by the Earl of Jersey, Sir Charles Hedges, and the Earl of Manchester; followed (f . 75 b) by fees received in June 1702 after Vernon had vacated his office. Inserted at the end (ff. 76 b-80) are accompts "for my Cousin James [Vernon, junior]," for the period Feb. 1702-Aug. 1704.
