Correspondence between John Gay, the poet, and [Catherine, wife of Charles Douglas, 3rd Duke of Queensberry] on the one side, and Mrs. Howard, Countess of Suffolk, on the other side; 8 Sept. 1719-1 Aug. 1735. The last date on the letters from Gay is 8 July, 1731. At f. 35 b is an insertion, with the signature of the Duke of Queensberry; and two letters at ff. 72 b and 76 b have postscripts written, and in the first case signed, by the Duchess's brother, Henry Hyde, Viscount Cornbury, ff. 22-32, 35-79.

[1714]. The second letter is signed "Stanhope," the writer's father having succeeded to the earldom in 1713. ff. 80, 81.
