The last date on the letters from Gay is 8 July, 1731. At f. 35 b is an insertion, with the signature of the Duke of Queensberry; and two letters at ff. 72 b and 76 b have postscripts written, and in the first case signed, by the Duchess's brother, Henry Hyde, Viscount Cornbury, ff. 22-32, 35-79.
