LEAKE PAPERS. Vol. XXX (ff. iii+199). 'Antiquities of Essex with Deeds, Monuments, Epitaphs and Arms', copied by S. M. Leake II from a work in three volumes compiled by Richard Symonds (1617-[1692?]), antiquary, preserved in the library of the College of Arms. The first two volumes were evidently presented to the College by Gregory King, Lancaster Herald, 6 June 1710 (see ff. 3b, 100), and the third by Justinian Paget, Keeper of the Records of the King's Bench (see f. 164). The original collections were used by Philip Morant for his A History and Antiquities of the County of Essex, 1768. The present volume was loaned to the Museum of the Essex Archaeological Society at Colchester in 1862 (see 47997, f. 1). Cat. no. 107 (see f. 1). Label no. 27.
