LEAKE PAPERS. Vol. XXXIII (ff. ii+ 141). Catalogue by S. M. Leake II of his own library; circ. 1771. Contents:-(1) Printed books, arranged by format. Cuttings from various printed sale catalogues (19th cent.?), giving descriptions and prices of many of the items, have been pasted in. ff. 2- 131b;-(2) Manuscripts (120 in number), including items in the present collection. ff. 134-139b;-(3) Pedigrees, mostly drafts. ff. 140-141. Later notes indicate an early division of much of the library between S. M. Leake's sons, Stephen and John. At f. 1 is a note, 12 Sept. 1862, by the Rev. Frederic Pyndar Lowe, husband of J. M. Leake's grand-daughter, stating that nine volumes, including 47994, from the library then at Thorpe Hall were deposited in the Museum of the Essex Archaeological Society (see Catalogue of Antiquities in the Colchester Museum, 1863, nos. 714- 717). Label no. 28.
