MILLES COLLECTION. Vol. III (ff. i + 162). Copybook of letters and papers relating to the administration of Ireland under Charles Blount, Lord Mountjoy, during his office as Lord Deputy; 1600-1602. Almost all the Privy Council letters and warrants are printed in extenso in the Acts of the Privy Council for the above years; for some of the letters of Queen Elizabeth and others see the Calendars of State Papers-Ireland and Carew -- of the same period. The copies were probably made for the principal Secretary of State, Robert Cecil, afterwards 1st Earl of Salisbury, and are possibly in the hand of his private secretary, Simon Willis (see f. 59b), who remained in his service till 1602. There is an incomplete list of contents at ff. 1-5. Original letters from the Queen to the Privy Council bearing her signature, 27 June 1600, ? Oct. 1601, occur at ff. 51, 147.
