BANKS COLLECTION. Vol. XXV (ff. 145). 'Islendska Graagaasinn'; 18th cent. A copy of the oldest written code of law in Iceland, called 'Grágás'. 'No. 19' according to a note on f. 2. It closely resembles Vellum MS. No. 1157, folio in the Old Royal Collection at Copenhagen. An edition of the 'Grágás' by J. F. W. Schlegel was published by the Arna-Magnaean Commission in 1829, the text being derived from the Copenhagen MS. and Arna-Magnaean MS. folio 334. The Copenhagen MS. was later edited with various amendments by Vilhialmur Finsen in the series Nordiske Oldskrifter, Copenhagen, 1852- 1870.
