BANKS COLLECTION- Vol. XXVII (ff. 49). Meditations on the Passion and Death of Our Redeemer: an Icelandic translation of a Danish work by Nicolas Paulsen, Professor of Theology at Copenhagen (d. 1645); 17th cent. Vellum. 'No. 50' according to a note on the fly leaf. The translation is by Ari Magnússon, Sýslumaðr of Isafjörðr (d. 1652), and is preceded by the translator's dedication to his mother, signed 'Are Magnusson' and dated 'Fra Ögre', 1 Apr. 1624. There is a note on f. 1 b. by Astriðr Jónsdóttir, the widow of Magnús Jónsson of Vígr, dated Myrar on Dyrafjörðr, 25 June 1718, saying that the MS. has been given to her by her uncle, Magnús Jónsson, and that she is presenting it to her granddaughter, Hólmfridr Pálsdóttir.
