BANKS COLLECTION. Vol. XXXIII (ff. 120). Lucidarius: an Icelandic adaptation of part of the German work of instruction called 'Lucidarius' which was composed at the instance of Duke Henry the Lion
(d. 1195); 18th cent.'No. 31'according to a note on f. 1. It is in the form of a master's answers to the questions of a pupil, and ends with a description of the geography of Europe. Followed by a fragment of 'Samtal meistaris og laeresveinsins' with some notes on animals and plants, written in a different hand. At the end are some psalms, etc., including a fragment of a life of St. Margaret of Antioch. Schorbach, Studien über das deutsche Volksbuch Lucidarius und seine Bearbeitungen in fremden Sprachen, Strasburg, 1894.
