Grant by Hawise [de Beaumont, d. 1197], countess of Gloucester, for her soul and those of William, her husband [d. 1183], earl of Gloucester, her children, and all her ancestors and successors, to Nuneaton Priory [Leicestershire], of 100s of land in her manor of Pimperne [Dorset], and leaving her body to the priory.
Witnesses include: William [r. 1167x72-1205], abbot of Keynsham; John [r. 1186-1216], abbot of St Augustine [Bristol]; Henry [r. 1191-1212], abbot of Bindon; and Robert [occ. 1191-97], prior of Wareham [Dorset].
Endorsed: in a 13th-century hand, 'He[c] carta de Pinpre'; in a 17th-century hand, 'The Lady Countyse / of Glouc[ester] dyd gyve / to the p[ri]ores 100s / yerely [and] her bodye / to be taken in Pynpre'; in a different 17th-century hand, 'Carta Hawise comit[isse] / de Glocestr / Eccl[es]ie de Eton'.
Affixed with a fragmentary seal of Hawise, lozenge, green, with a full-length image of Hawise in profile, in a long dress, facing left, holding a staff, with the legend, 'sigillum h... gloecestrie'.
