Bound volume containing the annual reports for 1933-1938 inclusive.
The documents for each year contain a History of the Fund, a list of the officers of the corporation (Patron, President, Vice-Presidents, Council, Committee, Registrars, Treasurers, Auditors, honorary officers, Bankers and Secretary), and lists of chairmen of the anniversaries, ‘Members of the Corporation’ with details of their donations, donors not yet qualified as members, miscellaneous benefactions, legacies, decreased benefactors and ‘Officers of the Corporation, Deceased’. For each year there are also Auditors’, Treasurers’ and Registrars’ reports for the previous year as well as details of the stewards of and donations made at the Anniversary dinners, short items on major bequests (from Thomas Newton and T L Kington Oliphant) and an advertisement for David William: Founder of The Royal Literary Fund, by Edward Verrall Lucas.
For each year, there are also varying records as described below:
1933 (56 pp.): ‘The Anniversary Dinner, 1933’, with transcripts of the speeches (chair: James Ramsay Macdonald; principal speakers: George Stuart Gordon; Rose Macaulay; Horace Annesley Vachell; David Alexander Edward Lindsay, Earl of Crawford and Balcarres).
1934 (64 pp.): ‘The Anniversary Dinner, 1934’, with transcripts of the speeches (chair: Baron Emile-Ernest de Cartier de Marchienne, the Belgian Ambassador; principal speakers: Thomas Tomlin, Lord Tomlin; Helen Waddell; David Alexander Edward Lindsay, Earl of Crawford and Balcarres).
1935 (72 pp.): ‘The Anniversary Dinner, 1935’, with transcripts of the speeches (chair: Queen Marie of Roumania; principal speakers: Ronald Gorell Barnes, Baron Gorell; Alfred Noyes; James Stephens; David Alexander Edward Lindsay, Earl of Crawford and Balcarres).
1936 (68 pp.): ‘The Anniversary Dinner, 1936’, with transcripts of the speeches (chair: Edward Frederick Lindley Wood, Viscount Halifax; principal speakers: Harry Stuart Goodhart-Rendell, Helen Simpson, St John Greer Ervine; David Alexander Edward Lindsay, Earl of Crawford and Balcarres).
1937 (69 pp.): ‘The Anniversary Dinner, 1937’, with transcripts of the speeches (chair: Victor Alexander George Robert Bulwer-Lytton, Earl of Lytton; principal speakers: Maurice Healey; Walter John de la Mare; David Alexander Edward Lindsay, Earl of Crawford and Balcarres).
