This is a list of 2,823 Africans liberated from slave ships by the British Royal Navy between 1814 and 1815. These were among the earliest African individuals affected by the implementation of British suppression policies following abolition in 1807. The list includes extremely rare detail of the names, ages, height and gender of the men, women and children released from illegal slave trading vessels at the Vice-Admiralty Court at Freetown. In addition, there is detailed information on the physical attributes of the individuals including scarification and other body markings. This is one volume of approximately 19 bound volumes and 1 unbound volume. The copied volume (1814-1815, nos. 4,684-7,507) consists of 382 digital images.
Original material: 1 bound volume, 1814-1815. Recently rebound. Bound in cloth on boards. Stamped in gold. Spine in red leather. Water damage to lower edges of pages. Mildew beginning at central spine. Acidification of pages. Iron gall damage.
