From 1^st Jan – 22^nd March, Alec Guinness was in Madrid and Segovia the filming of The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964). Still in tax exile, he then travelled to San Sebastian, Ascain, Bagneres-De-Bigurre, Lourdes, Beynac et Cezenac, Amboise, Loue, Cherbourg and then finally returned home to Petersfield via Bournemouth on 8^th April. He remained in Petersfield/London until 25^th August, with a few short trips within the UK. On 25 August in Newcastle began rehearsals for a return to stage in Exit the King by Eugene Ionesco, then to Edinburgh until 8^th September when he returned to Petersfield/London. He remained there until 7 November when he took the boat to New York to begin rehearsals for Dylan by Sidney Michael, until 11^th December when he went to New Haven until 21^st December, and then back to New York and on to Toronto 23^rd – 31^st December.
