- 64-64(vii). Downing Street, August 1800. 'Most Secret' Directive to General Sir Ralph Abercromby'. The document begins: 'By my Dispatch of the 31st Ultimo, you were directed, after making the proposed attack on Cadiz, or in the event of its being relinquished, to collect your Force at Gibraltar, and there to wait such instructions as I might receive....' The document then refers to the capture of Cuba: 'the first [object] to which I shall call your particular attention ... is the Capture of the Havannah, the fall of which would of course place the whole Island of Cuba under the domination of this Country.'

Draft (without date) of Pitt's speech in the House concerning Parliamentary representation in Ireland, beginning: 'In ascertaining the Number of Irish Members which should sit in the British Parliament, the Proportion must be estimated by some Comparison either with Scotland or generally with Great Britain. One criterion which naturally occurs is that of Population. This would lead to very different Results....'
