- 114. Treasury Chambers, Marquiss of Blandford to Pitt, 1 August 1805. Informing Pitt that he 'could suggest to [him] certain means of obtaining the most correct information both of the Disposition & Intentions of the French Government....'
- 115. Harrogate, Bishop of Lincoln to [Adams], 3 August 1805. Refers to an enclosed letter (not present) for Pitt.
- 116. The Holt, near Bishops Waltham, Hants., Lady Amelia Calder to [Pitt], 3 August 1805. Writing in support of her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Robert Calder, who is 'without fortune'.
- 117. Harwich Barracks, Duke of Rutland to [Pitt], 4 August 1805. Writing to recommend Mr. Christopher Coulson of Scarborough as Collector of Customs at Whitby.
- 118. Political poster, headed 'REWARD', which purports to be a message from [Rev.] John Cleland (political agent of Lord Castlereagh) concerning a letter from Castlereagh to Pitt that has been dropped in the street, and for which a reward of £300 is offered if it is found with the seal unbroken. The majority of the poster comprises the text of the supposed missing letter, presented to public view by 'a Freeholder, who thinks it but right to submit it to the inspection of the County.' The spoof letter, dated 7 August 1805, begins: 'My Dear Pitt, I now evidently see that this Election will go against me....'
