The document is a copied letter from George III, stating that the Prince of Wales 'should not quit the Kingdom without my express Leave, together with a Recommendation of some Plan for Payment of His debts by a Reserve out of his Revenue'. With amendments in another hand (?George III).
- 161(ii)-161(iii). George III to the Prince of Wales, 29 March 1785. Retained draft copy, endorsed: 'Draft from the Chancellor'. Letter begins: 'the P. of W. is sufficiently aware that His Letter of the 14 Mar is by no means a satisfactory or suitable answer to my proposal of the 13th.'
The remaining documents in the file are fragments and miscellaneous items that do not have a Public Record Office number:
- Statement to the House of Commons that negotiations between 'His Majesty and some of the Powers of the Continent, have not yet been brought to such a Point as to enable His Majesty to lay the result of them before the House'. Not dated.
- Three columns of figures with no title or indication of reference. Annotated in pencil: 'Mr Pitt's figures'.
- Two columns of names (Peers, Ministers): one dated 'Saturday June 16', the other 'Sunday June 18'.
- Brief note of names and ranks - appears to relate to patronage and advancement.
- Fragment (previously damaged with text missing, now conserved) on conferring the Ribbon of the Order of St. Patrick on the E[arl] of (?)Albemarle. Other names mentioned. Stamped 'Public Record Office' on the verso.
- Fragment (conserved) with much text missing, beginning 'My Lord'. Stamped 'Public Record Office' on the verso.
- A list of five names under the heading 'Council on Saturday': Hawkesbury, Addington,Chancellor, Duke of Portland, and Lord Walsingham. On the other side of the sheet is a fragment of text.
