Interviews given, 2000:

‘Scanning the unseen: reading Peter Dale’, by Stephen Wade. An intended biography of Dale, beginning with an interview on 14 Jan 2000, but the project was abandoned. A draft of this was intended for inclusion in the unpublished collected 'The Buried Hatchet', see Add MS 89065/5/9. Includes:

• A word-processed note ‘Inward workings of the mind’ may form part of this interview, and two chapters on his early years (the expanded text of which is at Add MS 89065/5/11) sent to Wade.
• Wade’s reply to the above, which was accompanied by either the incomplete double-spaced word-processed draft, with many manuscript amendments by Dale, or the single-spaced word-processed draft, with somewhat fewer manuscript amendments by Dale, which was the text used for later drafts.
• Further draft of the interview inscribed ‘Penult draft 1/2/00’.
• Further draft of the interview.
• Three further letters from Wade to Dale, the last enclosing a draft word-processed text of the proposed book.
• Draft word-processed text of the proposed book as returned by dale, with manuscript amendments.
• Letter from Wade to Dale, dated 12 Nov [2000], announcing that he was abandoning the project.
• Two A6 word-processed considerably revised versions corrected by Dale in 2006, the smaller annotated ‘The project was aborted’
