- These letters include an official thank you from the British Museum (1900) for Candler's gift of "Wooden devil-mask and 3 paintings on rollers from the Sikkim-Tibetan frontier"; letters concerning employment, including two letters regarding Candler's appointment as correspondent with the Indian Expeditionary Force in Mesopotamia (1915), one from the India Office and one from the Newspaper Proprietors Association; subsequent letter (1917) at the end of this tenure sent from the Army Headquarters, India: an official letter of thanks from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London, for Candler's donation of dried plants from Persia, including a list of the plants donated; a letter from Candler to Mr. Dawson regarding the Montagu Scheme and self-government in India.
