- Documents from Judiciary of Bragança - Judgment Law of Bragança - Box 25 1828
- Scope & Content:
- Judiciary documents contained in Box 25. Document 1: In 1828, Francisca Antonia da Silva asked the judge compliance with a previous legal cancellation of the letters of emancipation of the slaves Felicio, Anna, Susanna, Theresa, Paulina, and Maria. Her ex-husband, Francisco Bernardo Maria, had emancipated said slaves after their divorce. According to Antonia, he could not have done that because these slaves were part of the inheritance of the couple’s five children. For this reason she asked the justice to order the re-enslavement of these slaves because she considered all them of her property. Francisco Aurélio Sobral Brazil, solicitor. José da Silva Bittencourt, scrivener. Extent of original material: Box (cardboard)24,5cm X 15cm X 36cm01 document24 pages.
