The notebook ('Boston etc.') comprises:
- Inserted loosely at inside front cover: a postcard from Helen [Cassidy] to Lee Harwood and Jud Walker (Boston address). Postcard franked 9 April 1973.
- A list of Harwood's reading (contemporary poetry and literature) from October 1972 to February 1974.
- Notes (2 pages) dated November-December 1972 on the museums of Boston and Cambridge, Mass.
- Notes on particular books (e,g. biographies of Ezra Pound) and poets (T. S. Eliot, Tristan Tzara).
- Notes on a lecture by Roy Fisher ('Breaking into English') at the Poetry Society, 22 October 1973.
- Inserted loosely following the notes on Fisher: pencil notes (1 sheet) on Eric Mottram, William Burroughs: The Algebra of Need, and pencil notes (1 sheet) on John Wieners. Both sets of notes dated November-December 1972.
- The remaining pages of the notebook are not used, except for the final page where the list of Harwood's reading continues (for January and February 1974).
