View from the top of the Ochterlony Monument, looking north-westwards across the Maidan towards the southern façade of Government House and its garden, with the masts of shipping in the River Hugli visible beyond. To the left of Government House is the Town Hall. In the background right of centre can be seen the uncompleted dome of the General Post Office. This photograph forms the third section of Bourne's seven-part panoramic view of Calcutta from the monument.
