View of the southern end of Old Court House Street from the north-east corner of the grounds of Government House, looking towards the Maidan and showing the classically-designed premises of various businesses on the east side of the street; with the east gateways and part of the grounds of Government House on the right. Among the shops which can be identified by their signs are Ramsay, Wakefield and Company (outfitters), Harman and Company (military tailors), J. Corfield and Company, J. G. Hanhart, Francis, Harrison, Hathaway and Company and C. Seconde and Company (hairdressers).
